"The soup had too little salt in it," he says. "Perhaps the rain watered it down. It had cabbage and potatoes, anyway," she replies.
Kati and Takeshi have talked for weeks about the world through its flowers, ashtrays, tango, rivalries and flirts. Kati loves a good old lightbulb to stay warm during winter nights. Takeshi likes the bursts of violence fueled by stamina. I color their talks.
I show a movie about coming home. I parade Kati's private fantasies and fears, and the challenge of hosting Takeshi and his worldviews. A movie about public curiosity and agitation during the day, and intimate dreams and sediments at night. I present Kati's way of being at home with existing scenographies, props, actors, customs, actions, dialogues, and sounds. In the movie, the embodiment of settling will be displayed.
I also show panoramas of Kati's home in Helsinki. With thousands of images, I present examples of how the public face of the building may look––its colors, proportions and materials––as well as the interior elements––its walls, ceilings and openings. I show the architectonic consequences of gravity, and the thickness of Kati's rituals for settling down. From the panoramas, the body of the building will be engendered.
